Have got au présent

On peut utiliser have got (British English) pour parler de ce que l'on possède ou des liens familiaux.

Affirmation: I have got a cat. / I've got a cat.
Négation: I have not got a cat. / I haven't got a cat.
Question: Have you got a sister?
Réponses brèves: yes, I have. / No, I haven't.

On peut également utiliser have got pour parler des caractéristiques personnelles (description).

I have got brown hair.

Au présent, have a deux formes, have et has:

I/ We/ You/ They have got a ball.
He/ She/ It has got a ball.

dans have got, have est un auxiliaire parce que:

C'est have qui s'accorde avec le sujet: have ou has.
dans les négations on place not (ou n't) directement après have: He hasn't got a pet.
dans les questions on inverse have et le sujet: Has he got a pet?
Have sert à former les réponses brèves: Has he got a pet? Yes,he has. No, he hasn't.

Have peut s'employer comme un verbe normal en anglais américain (American English).Dans ce cas, l'auxiliaire "do" est employé au présent comme pour n'importe quel verbe.

Affirmation: I have a cat.
Négation: I don't have a cat.
Question: Do you have a sister?
Réponses brèves: yes, I do. / No, I don't.
